Earlier this week, the TFSD Board of Trustees approved a calendar for the upcoming school year. You can access the calendar below.
As always, there are a variety of opinions about the school year calendar. Here in Twin Falls, we utilize a committee to establish a recommendation for the calendar. This committee is made up of representatives from each building as well as parent representatives. There are always compromises that must be made. This year, the committee provided two options to the school board. The board ultimately decided on the calendar linked above.
Here are some highlights of the 2022-23 calendar:
- The first semester will continue to wrap up prior to Christmas Break.
- A two-week Christmas break for students and building staff members.
- Five professional development and planning days throughout the year to help support educators.
- The school year will continue to end prior to Memorial Day.
- The first day of school will be Wednesday, Aug. 17.
The calendar could have slight modifications between now and next year; however, at this time we do not expect there to be any substantial changes as we know families make plans based on the calendar.
